Client: ALESSIO
(Independent Belgian Artist)
ALESSIO is a rising Belgian artist known for his melancholic yet powerful music. As he prepared to independently release new music—without the support of a label or agency—he needed a strong visual identity to match his sound and help establish his presence in the scene. I collaborated closely with him to create a cohesive aesthetic that translated his emotional universe into visuals fit for Spotify and social media.
Creative Process
ALESSIO, a close friend, came into the project with a clear moodboard that helped guide the visual direction. I used it as a foundation, experimenting with various treatments and styles on photos we shot together. Each version I created became a conversation—he either gave feedback or selected the one that felt right to him.
While he was deeply involved in shaping the identity, he also gave me full creative trust. This freedom allowed me to go beyond the original references, pulling inspiration from other artists and visual trends to develop concepts that matched both the music and the moment.
Some visuals had to be adapted when singles were shuffled or postponed, but the core vision remained intact: emotionally-driven design with a moody yet modern edge.
Challenges
Working with a limited budget meant we had to be resourceful. Fortunately, I had access to the equipment we needed, and used the moodboard alongside ALESSIO’s music during shoots to help him embody the feeling each song conveyed. One of the trickiest (yet most rewarding) parts was visually translating those layered emotions into a single, compelling frame.

Outcome
Though there were no hard metrics, the visuals sparked strong reactions. ALESSIO received positive feedback from fans and even landed in several online music articles—many of which featured the visuals I created. Despite having no major backing, the project stood out and helped him position himself as a serious, emerging artist.
For me, it was an opportunity to channel my broad experience into something personal and meaningful. Helping a close friend build his artistic world from scratch was not just fulfilling—it was a reminder of the power of visual storytelling, even with limited resources.
